twesterm said: I'm sorry, but I have no idea what the big idea is about that game. Everything about it looks bad and generic. The concept art they showed was interesting I guess, but I have no idea why people flipped over it. Still though, some people like certain things, so it's cool that they get excited about it. And then they released those screenshots. Those screenshots almost made Cruise'n look good. Why again are people so excited about this? |
Many years ago, i remember the reaction to the first "Wind Waker" screenshots... i don't say your reaction is exactly the same, but never forget that a game truly lives when in motion... and in this example, Wind Waker still remains one of the most gorgeous "cartoony" game ever, at least in my humble opinion of cartoon lover: cos' even today, there are still many people to claim it's an horrible game... and anyway, these people don't even mention the gameplay and controls, which were perfect: a great experience, and still my favourite game to this day...
Now, what i'm goin' to say is not only about your comment, twesterm, but about most pessimistic comments i may find here, and everywhere when it comes to "hyped future Wii games": usually, the hype is for games with a very niche style, not many hours of gameplay, and in the end, not really THAT good: i'm thinking about the Conduit and Madworld here...
But in the case of Epic Mickey, this is maybe the first time that an original and exclusive, BIG BUDGET third party game is released on Wii... the only other example i can think about so far (after three years!) is the next WM+ Red Steel...
So, it's always nice to have a critical view, but some people should learn to be more positive, and a least show a little bit of respect when real efforts are made to deliver the goods on Wii... if only more game creators could try to match the quality (and budget) of the best Nintendo titles, then at least, some would succeed from time to time...
Spector is the only one trying, and we still don't have enough infos and feedback to dismiss his efforts yet... but as i've already written above, a game influenced by Zelda and Okami, and made by a great game designer like him, can't be THAT bad...
Plus, it's not like japanese RPG's or western FPS: a game in that vein comes once every couple of years... another reason to wish it's great, if like me, this is EXACTLY your favourite genre in gaming...
