ANything programmed can be hacked. It only takes a large group of people who want to do it. Early on, the Wii exploded and the 360 was the only kid on the block for a year. Therefore they were hacked right away. PS3 started off very slowly and had no real incentive to be hacked. No big difference in games and a small userbase. Now its growing quickly since the slim launched and it is gaining popularity. The original xbox was an off the shelf pc. It wasn't hard to hack and it had halo and the only real online service. It had real incentive to invest time to hack it. I'm sure there has always been the few who worked on the PS3, but it is linux based and therefore harder anyways. Now its gaining a lot of users as well as bigger exclusive games. Again, its the same issue as with Apple and viruses. If Apple were 85-90% of the market, it would be the same as MS. |
30m units and still not hacked..
Both the Original Xbox and the Xbox 360 was hacked within months.. both prior to any real popularity, both within a year of release. The iPhone was hacked within months aswell, the iPhone 3G S within minutes. The truth is that people give their best effort to hack electronics as soon as they release, many just to be able to claim that first hack recognizion. And others just to be able to modify it so they can get things for free. The Playstation 3 is 3 years old and 30m units strong.. and still no one has been able to come up with a easy to use hack.
Sales has nothing to do with it.
