Sony is broadcasting the World Cup this year in 3DTV, are the company most associated with 3D by many, are including in most 3D headlines, and have all the resources in place to aim high. They aren't leaders no, but to say that it will take them 3 years to get to where others are today is absolute BS.

Umm...thats ESPN...not sony.

"ESPN has been testing ESPN 3D for more than two years"

Man you talk like you know everything. Sony is an official FIFA partner.

I don't know about the other crap like who is leading in the 3d TV industry and how many years some company did what.

That don't account for shit when the organisers of the biggest sporting event on the planet (some say bigger than the olympics but that is debatable)

choose sony.

Well Im not bragging or anything but I do know a lot about 3D. I worked for Imax 5 years ago as well as had 3D TV and glasses for almost a year.

Did you read that article? It says that they will be using Sony 3D cameras to film the world cup...which will show on ESPN 3D as well have previews in some Sony stores. Wodnerful...

My guess is that sony wants the exposure and is paying for them to use their tech and market their name as there isn't a single 3D camera sony makes right now that competes with the best.

If world cup people were smart they'd use this... http://www.red.com/epic_scarlet/
