What a senseless waste of life. The attitude that we shouldn't care about this boy's death because lots of others die every day is saddening.

The world can be a terrible place and there are senseless deaths of children all over the world on a daily basis but it's only more natural to be more affected by things that are closer to us or for reasons that we can somehow relate to. It's hard for us to imagine what it would be like to die of starvation or grow up in a war zone but all of us at least know what it's like to be frustrated by a videogame (if this is in fact what caused the argument). Despite this for the frustration to be so great to lead to murder of a child is just unbelievable, and yes it does matter that he is 9 years old.

All life is valuable but to say that people aren't or shouldn't be more affected by the deaths of children shows a lack of experience of death. Death is a part of life and while always saddening, people are often more accepting of death if it's due to age or some act which is self-initiated. People can rationalise that the person lived a good life or were responsible for the act which (unfortunately) lead to their own death, but for a child to die when they haven't lived a long life and weren't responsible for their own death is a sadder or more tragic event in the minds of most people.

Very well said. +10
