Of course it's popular to hate FFVII and people will just keep bashing it for no reason. Cloud was hardly emo in FFVII and he acted nothing like that in the game. He fought to save the world, he had friends, he made jokes. Selfish at first? Sure. Emo? No. Cloud was cocky as hell and always boasting about how badass he was. That's hardly him saying he wasn't strong enough. As for Vincent, being a hidden character and all he barely said anything. But I'll admit sleeping in a box for all eternity because you failed at something is pretty emo.

Oh don't worry my hate for FFVII isn't based on any fan-made video but my own experiences with the game. I found the characters uninteresting, the plot contrived and poorly translated, the villain mediocre, the art dull and lifeless, and the visuals practically unplayable.
The FF game that doesn't get enough credit is FFIX. A great plot, more character development than any other FF game, gorgeous art, the best FF music ever written, and a return to the Fantasy roots of FF (instead of the sci-fi that VII and VIII were) make it not only one of the best Final Fantasy games but one of the best RPGs.
