Pfft. Someone has to innovate and take a few chances, and new technology will always be expensive when it first comes out. The sooner it is brought out, the sooner rich people will buy it at a high price (making up for, or at least mitigating, the money spent on R&D and the inevitably high early cost of production) and the sooner it will come down so that the rest of us can afford it. I'm glad that Sony's still ambitious. Technological progress in the world of consumer electronics would have been a lot slower if we'd have waited for everyone to get x before we brought out y.
Also, I'm amused by pb1285n's sig, since his post contained a lot more fact than opinion
