Torillian said: I'm starting to wonder if you talk crap about Heavy Rain at every possibility because you don't like the idea that Heavy Rain may look like a non game but really it has taken the cornerstones of modern wRPGs (one of your favorite genres): an ability to change the story through your actions and a dialogue system and turns it into a full game.
When you look at them, some the defining characteristics that makes something a wRPG are weirdly familiar to what people will be doing in Heavy Rain. |
A controversial statement would be that WRPGs are simply Adventure games with combat and statsitics.

To Akvod and Torillian:
WRPG's are games full of choice from becoming your protagonist (actual role playing) and making their decisions which affects the world around them and brings consequences or positivity. This covers more than Heavy Rain could ever cover in practice, because ultimately it is still a live or die concept. WRPG's are about more than just that. In Heavy Rain the consequence for your actions (if you cannot apply the button command on time) is really death, so you're not affecting the world around you. Take Mass Effect for instance....your actions which create prosperity, deals, bad blood, deaths side jobs, replacement, neutrality or whathaveyou are eventually found in the either the same game next part of the game spanning many galaxies. Your choices in Heavy Rain will never ever be as deep. It's not like I don't like the live or die concept, I am just saying it's quite simple.

Oh ok, i see, you haven't seen any video of the game or anything about it at all. This comment made that pretty clear. Feel free to continue talking about the game in your "fantasy land."
(Every button command ends in death if you don't get it right, and that's all there is to the interaction? REALLY? I mean...you really haven't seen anything about the game, have you?)

What are you talking about? Of course i've seen movies for the title. theres choices all around you....but they are live or die consequences if you really think about it. I haven't watched every movie because a game like this cannot last very long.

So eating a cereal or telling your kid to do his homework is life or death???
