The main problem between established franchises going beyond the complete borders of what they achieve in past games is the alienation of their entire fan base. Final Fantasy have always been a series about changes and different approaches to the JRPG genre, but never have they strayed away from it, it's an entire different ball game to go for an entire new genre. |
ff8 for example, best jrpg ever, but people hated it, because they wanted ff VII 2 CLOUD REvange.
