As I said in my initial post, using it for PIRACY is actually quite the difficult process.

The main things I used my Homebrew Channel for were:

(1) Playing ROMs of games that HAVEN'T come out on the VC yet - and mainly ones that I already own, but either their original system no longer works, or I just want to preserve their original system by using it less.

(2) Playing homebrew games (see: games made 100% legally by people like you and me and distributed for free use by anybody that's hacked their Wii TO play them)

(3) Playing DVDs. More of a novelty than anything else, but it's nice having the Wii able to play DVDs.

All of which are totally legitimate and not at all why Nintendo is trying to eliminate homebrew usage. They want to eliminate homebrewing because SOME people use it to pirate Wii games and the lot. If I want to do that, I'll just run the Dolphin emulator on my computer, which is way easier and doesn't risk doing some crazy hacking that ISN'T really simple and may ruin my system. =p


Anyways, I'm not certain I'll ever re-hack my system or re-install the Homebrew Channel. If I get a hankerin' for some quality playin' of some classic games that aren't VC available, we'll see, but right now, no thanks. I've got a PS2-to-PC adapter that can let me just emulate 'em and still get the real feel.

 

@Stof - I think the main thing that makes it way more than "slightly odd" is that (1) the problems just kept getting worse and worse until the Wii seemed COMPLETELY useless, and (2) they're all ENTIRELY gone, and I hacked my Wii initially over a year ago, with a lot of these problems being nearly as old. I've had these issues for ages, and now my Wii is nearly entirely legit, like there was never anything wrong with it in the first place.

I would still recomend to make a back up of your Nand just in case this problem comes back, then you can easely revert back to where you are now with a fully functioning Wii

I probably will do a backup for that reason, because yeah, no fun sending it in for repairs at all.
