I'm so excited to hear what all the companies are bringing to 3D at CES this year. Thanks for sharing these stories.
I'm planning on getting a 3D HDTV this year, mainly for movie watching since their aren't many games right now that support it. A big selling point is I want to be able to relive Avatar like it was in IMAX 3D only without the shimmering effect I noticed in human eyes and surfaces. The way I understand things is shutter based glasses should eliminate that.
The laser tech in the video seems even better too perhaps due to the faster refresh rate. I wish I could get an affordable big screen OLED 3D HDTV though rather than tech that uses lasers. I may need to consult you before making my purchase
And regarding article #3 it will be interesting to see if they can apply 2D to 3D decoding on the fly for movies that weren't originally encoded in 3D.
