LCD and PLASMA at the time it was launched was also for far few people, costly, problematic and without much purpose. But the market for each was the HIGH end rich enthusiasts.
Only because you guys aren't the enthusiast doesn't mean it will fail.
Sony will market this for the enthusiasts, and will slowly bring the costs down as they manufacture more, until is mainstream.
The hardware cycle was always like these. The sooner Sony starts manufacturing it, the sooner they can learn how to bring costs down, for in 5 years when the mainstream start to want to buy, the will have the know how to build quality and cheap 3D HDTV.
The same can be sad about the OLED TV.... for now is enthusiasts only (11'' LOL) but soon will become the must have HTDVs.
