Can people not be so idealistic and just enjoy the movie? They made this certain group of the army/navy look like bad people, but the main protagonist is a former marine and he's one of the kindest people in the whole movie. Who cares if you have family in the military? Both of my grandfathers served in World War II, and I have a cousin serving in Afghanistan. Did I get offended? No. I don't really give a crap. Stop kissing the military's butt. And it more closely resembled the Spanish colonization of the Americas rather than the American invasion of Iraq. If you really found the entire plot dumb because you were offended by it, then that's dumb. Don't mind me, I'm kind of grumpy today. I'm just really pissed off that so many people try to make so many comparisons with this movie and real life. Just enjoy it. |
I don't mind the message behind the film, I just wish Cameron would have eased off a bit and not have crammed it down our throats. I got the point... Stop being so damned heavy-handed with it, James. I prefer movies with some room for audience interpretation and Avatar didn't have a lick of it. It was stunningly one-sided and was completely obnoxious about it. That was my problem, not the actual message.
