So, a while back (on System Menu 3.1 I believe), I hacked my Wii and installed the Homebrew Channel (get the fuck out of here if you're going to be bigoted over that. It's ridiculously hard to use a Wii hack to actually pirate stuff, so 99% of the people hacking their Wii aren't pirating - they're doing legit stuff. Including myself). Some time after that, my Wii decided it would only boot once every twenty attempts or so. I attributed it to the Homebrew Channel or my hack - one of the two - but hadn't found anybody else that'd had the same problem, so I shrugged it off and put up with it. I figured, eh, since I go through phases with my systems (I'll play solely PC games for a while, then solely Wii games, then 360, then PS2, then handhelds, and repeat), I'll just leave  the Wii on continuously while I'm on my Wii phase.

Later, when they announced 4.0 and the SD card unlocking, I jumped on the chance to finally have all my VC titles available at once, and I updated to 4.0.

Anyways, then I got NSMBW for Christmas. It forced a system update to 4.1, so I did the update. Later, I decided I wanted to access the Shop Channel, so I allowed it to update me to 4.2, figuring no big deal - 4.2's probably been cracked by now, no worries if I decide I want to use the Homebrew Channel again. It didn't brick my system immediately - thank God. So I played some NSMBW with a friend, and had an overall good time.

A few days later, I powered up the Wii again. It gave me an error screen when I  booted it up, but the screen was messed up. Something like this:

It gave me that error three or four times, screwed up like that every single time. Finally, I ejected the disc and the SD card and tried again. Now, NOTHING worked AT ALL. No screen, no anything. I'd turn it on but nothing would happen.

So, I unplugged it completely and took it to my computer to look up what Nintendo would charge for me to send it in and get it fixed. Sure enough, the usual $75 + shipping and taxes, yada yada. Can't pay that, so I took the system back and plugged it in, just to try one last time.

It powered up.

It showed the "user safety" screen.

It asked me to press A to continue. I pressed A.

The Wii Menu showed up.

So, excited but uncertain, I powered it back down. Then I turned it on again. It powered up, it showed the "user safety" screen, it asked me to press A, and I pressed A. The menu showed up, I powered it down again. Third time, same thing.

Satisfied, I fired up NSMBW again.

And I just now (after typing that last sentence) went out and tested it again. Three attempts, three successful boots.

So, like I said. WEIRDEST. THING. EVER.

PS: Except my Internet Channel won't work at all anymore. O_o
