1) Because you need 3D-capable TV while even HD Ready is not so common. Also, those 1$ glasses are crap, for comfortable using you need a ~200$ active shutter glasses. Or something like this, I'm not techcrunch guy who can provide exact details, at least it's what I read somewhere. If I'm wrong about these "shutter" glasses, then correct me.

2) Because if Nintendo position a sistem as 3D and market so, it'll create disinterest among many users who are not that tech savvy. Not to mention that having to wear glasses to play a game is definition of nerdo.
