MKWII has only just crossed the 20 milion mark, and that's with the help of the Wii's 2 highest years in sales, so don't count on NSMB selling like MKWii did the year it was released. Over time it's possible NSMB > MW2. More so than not, but it's not going to be anywhere near as quickly as MKWII > GTAIV.

It's not Wii games with legs we're talking about, it's Nintendo's evergreens. Mario Kart Wii will manage over 1.5mil this month (its second December), while Modern Warfare 1 last year couldn't manage 500k. That's a pretty large difference.
As for Mario Kart Wii's sales assisted by the Wii's high sales, that's understandable, but the same applies to Modern Warfare 2. Also, I don't see its legs being as high as MW1's, as it should follow the sequel pattern - much more frontloaded, smaller legs. We should be able to tell as early as Jan, or Feb.
Obviously MW2 will put up a better fight than GTAIV, though I think NSMB Wii will be above by December this year.
edit: Might be slightly early, I'd give it Q1 2011.
