Why do most third party publishers ignore the Wii completely ?

Yes, sales figures are the be all end all.

That means, rather than sitting in a little nerd circle jerking it to HD GARFIX someone got in their car, went to the store, pulled out their hard earned cash and purchased said game.  We're not talking hamburgers here, we're talking games that cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $50.

And yes, both Wii Sports and Super Mario Bros do sit on a very short list of games that'll go down in history.  Whether you like it or not WiiSports opened a door to a lot of people who previously didn't game, something your precious Final Fantasy has never and will never do.  It's like selling a dildo to a nun--a miracle.

As far as Super Mario Bros 1, go hum the theme in a store and see how many people join in. More than you think, I've done it.
