They've not backed down on that stance, because RE5 still isn't announced on the Wii :/. I don't believe Capcom have said a RE5 port is possible, just that it would be possible to put RE5 on Wii in some form (Which I have never said wasn't possible, just that a port isn't possible). Dead Rising was just my analogy to what has happened when a company has tried to go down the non-port route. I think my claim, that it's not possible for a company to port a HD-developed game on to the Wii, is a lot more realistic then yours, that they could do it but don't for some unknown reason like 'companies are stupid'. I'm assuming neither of us have the technical know how to explain whether it is or isn't possible, but a quick google search can link me to a ton of interviews backing up my claims, whereas yours just seems nonsensual. I used the words put and port a bit too interchangeably I think :/. |
Well this guy super_machine said it best:
"The part that becomes more difficult is figuring out how they would make it work on wii. Saying you can get some nice lighting effects on wii and saying that means RE5 could be possible on the wii is totally different. First off, the game engine would need to be optimized to deal with the wiis slower CPU and less memory. Then you have to de-res all your textures. Any shaders that use ray tracing would be history. Then you have to rebuild all your 3D assets ( character models, objects, and environments) with lower polygons because the wii cannot render the same amount of polys in game without being un playable. To make RE:5 on wii would mean a total re-build of the game, quite different than the Re4 wii make. I doubt capcom would put the time and money like that into developing this game for a system that sees diminishing returns on mature rated titles."
Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)
I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/ hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.
