Way too soon for me to tell right now. But just pace wise, NSMB Wii could be over 15 million by the middle of 2010 so it's gaining ground fast. Even more than likely NSMB wii could be at the 20 million mark by this time next year. That's just something to think about when looking at this. But it's not like Mario Kart Wii is going to stop selling. My guess is another 5-6 million in sales in 2010.

I guess all that really matters right now is the longevity of NSMB Wii over a long time and I don't think that is something to worry about, especially if NSMB DS is anything to go off of. Seems like this NSMB Wii will be a game picked up with the system for a long time to come and selling to more gamers throughout the year.

Good point. Honestly before New Super Mario Bros. Wii was released I didn't think it was going to do anywhere near this well. I guess the next question is, is 2D Mario more popular than 3D Mario?

Well yea I was a skeptic at first as well putting the game LT maybe in the 10-15 million range.  Not like that's bad but hell the game is doing that now haha.  But I think the 2d vs 3d battle is easy to explain.  Mario is best known for his outings on the NES and it's easier to market Mario in that sense because of it.  It's more approachable for veteran gamers and more approachable for newer ones too.  I guess when people see 2d mario they see gaming at it's core.  Nintendo feeds off that and the hyping and advertising is easier from there.  Not to mention it doesn't hurt getting huge sales in Japan haha.

Yeah, I knew NSMBW was going to be a monster but I didn't know it was going to be such a big monster haha. I think you're right, but jeez I didn't know the power of 2D Mario was this great. Nintendo is genius haha. Japan is pretty unpredictable sometimes, but it seems they love 2D Mario as well. I wonder how many million selling weeks NSMBW will have.
