Just tried this, and have yet to see a thread on it.

Tropico 3 is a strategy/sim game in the vein of Civilization Revolution or Sim City.

I must say, this game went from being nowhere on my radar to a buy for me. The game play is excellent. The controls are a bit...Overwhelming, but after a try or two, you start to get it.

The goal of the game is to run your own island dictatorship. Yes, there are elections, but you can always rig them if the competitors are too strong. You produce exports to help run your economy. You get a large amount of political and economic freedoms with your island nation, which is pretty neat. You can go from an iron-handed dictatorship with close ties to the USSR to a libertarian, capitalistic paradise.

You get 2 scenarios in the demo. I played for over an hour on the 1st one and didn't beat it (had to leave prior to finishing it).

I'd reccomend that if your itching for something a bit more...Sim-intensive, then this game looks really good. Review scores have been mediocre (76%) but I am unsure what they have against this game that I'm not seeing. The game is well polished, and very cool.

Any other VGC-ers play this one yet? It debuts in the US in a month.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
