There are two things I hate about my 360 controllers--the D Pad and the battery back that is only a year old and can't hold a charge for more than 2 days. Those charge kits are garbage. You're almost better off with AAs in my experience.

The dpad is poor.

The controller is rock solid though.

I dont have an issue with the recharge packs... do you charge with the tower or the cable?  I use one of the towers to charge two battery packs and they last quite well.

I usually use the USB port on my printer to charge them, because my 360 doesn't always do a good job charging.  It's weird.  If I charge it up and don't play it for a couple of nights, it's dead by the time I turn it back on.  If I charge it up fully and play every night, it will last me 2 or 3 nights.  These things are too temperemental.

My recharge packs are 2 years old and last a long time.  Are you playing 2 days straight?  That'd be a good charge if so

Nah, I usually play about 2 hours a night on the weekdays and maybe about 3 hours a night on the weekends.  Again, it's really weird, because if I use the controller every night, the charge lasts at least 2 or 3 nights.  If I let it sit unused for a couple of nights, it's absolutely dead the next time I use it.  A couple of other 360 controller quirks:

--If I let the 360 charge the controller overnight, it usually has only 75% charge the next time I use it.  If I disconnect it shortly after the light turns green, it seems to get a full charge.  If I let it charge overnight, it only gets a partial charge.

--My 360 will only charge one of my controllers after shut down.  The other one it doesn't seem to like and will just shut off every time.  Then if I try to plug it in somewhere else, it thinks it's already charged up all the way and won't charge up anymore until I wear it out again.

So overall, I slightly favor the 360 controller over the PS3 controller, especially for shooters, but battery life wise the PS3 controller has the upper hand.  My DualShock 3 takes over a week to wear out even with regular play AND doesn't take nearly as long to charge back up.
