That doesn't mean she likes it or that it's acceptable. If an openly gay kid wants to play basketball on a high school team should we not feel bad for him when people chant "Homo" from the stands because he knew it was probably going to happen?
Just because you've got to put up with shit sometimes to do what you want doesn't mean it's going to hurt you any less when it happens.
