First off, if this isn't some petty fanboy defense, why don't we have this discussion on every 'flawed' game? There's plenty of them out there. Second, even if oneself truly believes that DI is nothing but a GoW ripoff, why is this necessarily a bad thing? So... people get more God of War... yeah, WTF is the big deal? I don't get it... Where I come from, more=better.
I suggest instead of complaining about 'which mechanics from where!?' people simply play games and enjoy what they're given. Personally, I like having more western hack n' slash available. I think it helps to level out all these Japaneses games that I don't like such as Bayonetta.

This thread, is more of a response to selnor's claim that an imitation is on steroids compared to the original. And yes , I am a God of war fanboy.
I posted my impressions on the game, which pales in comparision because it tries too hard to imitate a franchise COMPLETELY while failing to live up to its standards.
In short, Dante's Inferno is bringing about its own downfall by trying to compete with an epic franchise by doing the EXACT same thing.
Darksiders or Bayonetta doesn't rip off GoW such as this and I would buy those 2 games before I buy Dante's Inferno.
If DI innovates in a certain area, I will definitely buy it because of its potentially awesome story (but Dante sounds pretty horrible). I wanted to like this game, but it was a let down because it was nothing but a re-skinned God of War with less fun combat.
If you're looking for Wetern hack 'n slashes, get Darksiders which is getting pretty good reviews.

But come on man, we ALL know how
slenor is
DI shouldn't be thrown under the bus simply to further a fan agenda. Let the games come out and enjoy em both. Anyway, that's just my take on this matter...
