Did you even read the part about 'teleportation'? It's not so much teleportation as it is instant transformation/transportation of data. It's not technology that will lead to Star Trek-esque teleportation. But as Squilliam said, this is just a popularity contest anyways, and Natal in 5th bodes well for it's eventual release. |
Yes, I did. Did you??? Not like Star Trek you say??? (Even though I never watched it) NO SHIT!!!!??!?!? And now I though I was ready to just teleport across the world in a few years time!! Damn you for destroying my dreams. But thank you for insulting my intelligence though...
"scientists at the University of Maryland's Joint Quantum Institute successfully teleported data from one atom to another in a container a meter away"
If that is not cooler and more groundbreaking than something like Natal, I don't know what to say.... Teleportation between ATOMS is amazing no matter what. Everything in this world is built on/from atoms, so yeah, I believe something like this is a huge achievement in scientific research.. At least more than years old, laggy controller free gaming tech using cameras... If natal used brainwaves or something, then yes... but it's a camera... we have had cameras for ages..
but ye, it is a popularity contest, but if it is, why do they write: "From a rocket of the future to a $10 million lightbulb, here are TIME's picks for the best new gadgets and breakthrough ideas of the year".. doesn't really sound like a popularity contest to me... also in the user polls (found here: http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1934027_1937542_1937541,00.html ) Natal got the second most votes (24.900) but have and average rating of 57 (whatever that means) and are ranked as #30....
