Your technical opinion on Blu-Ray and the Cell as found in the PS3

Sony's has almost no ability to prevent anyone from using Blu-Ray ...

They're one member of a consortium that controls the format, of which the vast majority of members don't care about the console wars and would look forward to having another high profile device which used the format to promote it further.

 

Sony can prevent but that would only damage Blu-ray's name.

 

They are not only a member on Blu-ray consortium.They also one of the three creators of Blu-ray and have the biggest part of Royalty earnings.They have alot of control on Blu-ray.

They cannot prevent. The reason are simply too many to list, but suffice to say THEY CANNOT PREVENT.
