Even if home and handheld consoles are not shraing the same market,it doesn't mean handhelds have the advantage:
last generation, GBA had no competition whatsoever, and sold 80M~ while PS2 had 3 'serious' competitors (more than any other generation) and passed the 120M. read:home console market were definitely bigger.
in the current generation, however, there are 2 competitors in the handheld market, only 3 competitors in the home console market, yet the DS is almost outselling all home consoled combined, and the 'losing' competitor PSP is on par with the leading home console, Wii. read: handheld console market is bigger now.
so, I don't know if they have the same market, but they cn steal market share from one another, which considers as competition.
besides, Wii also have different market than other home consoles: 80% of female gamers own Wii. does that mean Wii isn't competition with PS360? (yeah, I know there were such discussion here)
lastly, who cares if consoles have the same market or not? we're comparing numbers for fun here..
