it's coz barret could be one of the characters that cloud goes on a date with. but in all seriousness, cid highwind is the manliest of them all. he curses the hell out of everyone, always has a cigarette in his mouth, has a long spear (!), is a pilot whose ship turns into so many different kinds of crap, and curses the hell out of the only woman who loves him. that's a real man's man.
