If Nintendo came out with a 'WiiHD' right now, sure, they'd have a rush on a few repeat sellers, but in the long run, it would only hurt the reputation and repeat core customer base they have.  It would be like Sony or Microsoft releasing a re-release of their console halfway saying 'now with full Widescreen support!'  Major PR nightmare.

All major heads at Nintendo have been hinting the next major console from Nintendo will have HD.  And both Reggie and Iwata have stated they will never made a 'Wii HD'.
