Why does Nintendo take that long to make games compared to HD consoles?

Well to be fair, for the most part Insomniac = quality = one year.  It's possible to be quick and good.  Who knows.

You fail. You hardly fail with that.

 

Insomniac is making one or two games per year. Nintendo made this year about 4 games.

 

I really don't care about how long Nintendo take their time to develop. They're making quality games for all publics of all genres and it's a real good thing they don't give us a same 3D Mario game each year. You just enjoy more a game when you have waited for it so long. Zelda Wii and Twilight Princess = 5 years between. I will enjoy Zelda Wii 1000x more.
