Not only was the cd rom cheaper, but it could hold more content (900mb) than the rom cartridge (64mb). Developers at the time were no longer restricted with limited memory space and were able to express themselves further with the games they made. The format was the reason that made the first playstation successful. Also at the time the playstation was a difficult console to work with because it was the first console to deliver 3d gaming.

No not really,resident evil 2 was on 2 cd's.yet only one cartridge
