Realistically square was originally making FF games for nintendo, they jumped ship to sony as many other 3rd parties did when psx was released because the cd format was cheaper to produce then cartridges.Thats how Sony became the leader in software, because nintendo stayed with cartridges.Sony also was open to broad ideas and let alot of games through the gate that nintendos strict policies would'nt have let fly.Anyway right now xbox is the software leader, because dvd is cheaper to produce then blu ray, even though they're not that far of sony in hardware sales, most multiplat games sell better on 360,so unless sony really holds the rights to FF7,you can count on it being multiplat,at this point in the console war nobody is going to neglect the market. These developers are out to make money not be brand faithful.

Exactly. I'm tired of all the "but Final Fantasy is a Playstation brand! so it must be PS3 exclusive!" talk. Final Fantasy had a history before FF7 people. Nintendo fans had to put up with Square abandoning them completely for quite awhile (and then never releasing a new main FF on a Nintendo system since 1994) yet PS fanboys throw a much bigger stink just because FF13 went multi-plat? It doesn't add up.  At the end of the day, Square-Enix is going to do what's best for business. And releasing FF13 multi-plat was best for business just like releasing FF7 on PS1 instead of N64 was best for business. PS Fanboys need to let it rest and realize that Square-Enix is a business, will do what is best for their bottom line and they owe them nothing. The sense of entitlement they have is outrageous. You have any idea what Nintendo fans must be feeling after being starved of new main line Final Fantasy since 1994 and not having any Square titles at all for 7 years (1996 to 2003 when Square decided to play nice and release a Final Fantasy Tactics game on GBA)?
