.......So not holding your hand through a game is a problem?

I had litterally no issues figuring out anything without a tutorial. It's fairly simple. That's why there's a thing called a "manual". It explains much of the game aspects. Really, it's a wonderful tool. It clocks in at 40+ pages, so it's not like they skimped.

I don't think a game should hold your hand but I do think it should have a decent tutorial or at the very least have a controller page that tells you the controls. I figured the controls would be in the manual, but most people don't read manuals (we're guys, it's like asking for directions). Personally, I don't like walking across the room to open my game case because I'm lazy. Having a simple screen showing you the controller buttons would completely eradicate my complaints about the confusing control scheme (though not control scheme in general).

Are there frame rate issues? Yes, but I have yet to really notice them. I'm sure if your a graphics/frame rate whore, you'll get upset, but KOTOR was the same way. No game has really tried to have this huge of scale, it's going to fall short with certain graphical issues. I don't see the PC or PS3 trying to make a game of this depth right now. Yes, Crysis is great, but you need a $2000 computer to run it anywhere near full-res....And your playing a game like ME on a $300 Xbox 360.

It's been a while since I played KotoR but I don't remember it having the frame rate issues you're talking about. I'm not saying it didn't, I'm just saying it wasn't bad enough to make it stick out in my mind. Mass Effect has bad frame rate throughout the entire game. It never gets so bad that the game is unplayable, but it doesn't change the fact it's there.

And yeah, this game could be made on the computer and you would have to an uber rig to play it but that's the game they chose to make. Personally, I would rather wait for a smoother experience or play it on a system that let me choose the detail level so I didn't have those problems. I am playing Mass Effect on a $300 system, but that doesn't change the fact it plays like crap.

The fact is, the gameplay and design is revolutionary, bar none. It lacks the polish of bioshock, but makes up for it in sheer innovation.

I completely agree the game is revolutionary but that doesn't automatically make it great. I think it is a great starting point and they will learn from all these mistakes to make Mass Effect 2 an incredible game.
