Yeah, that was pretty aggrevating. I actually started the game once, completed the first level and then actually decided to start over because I didn't like my original character and I missed a few things (like grenades). The first time it had me hack I completely missed it and was fairly pissed off.
Believe me, that review was only a small portion of the long laundry list of gripes about that game but some of those were just personal taste and others revealed spoilers so I held back a little.
