I know a guy who plays FPS and has his girl talk on the headset just to spark the stupid reactions guys have to girls.
Anyone who's obviously a girl is most likely a guy... just like MMORPGs and are doing it for the advantages. It's not free gifts like in MMORPGs, but i'm sure your average gamer feels less threatened by the girl gamer until she(he) snipes em from 100 yards away.
Oh boy the people that hit on my girlfriend when she plays MMORPGs. Yeesh. Well atleast she gets free stuff off it.
It's a lot easier to brush that stuff off when it doesn't apply to you though.
