This movie will be awful for the same reason every other VG movie is awful: because Hollywood doesn't take this crap with even the slightest hint of seriousness. A Metroid movie would suck, a MGS movie would suck and this movie WILL suck. I'm not trying to troll here. I'm dead serious when I say that getting your hopes up for this will only disappoint you THAT much more in the end. |
Well, there are three problems with game movies ...
Game stories (generally speaking) are not very good and are not presented in a way appropriate to convert to a movie. The plot of a game can generally be described as "A bunch of stuff that happened" and the protaganists'motivation is usually pretty shallow or undeveloped.
Converting a movie to a book, a movie to a game, or a game to a book can work out well because you are taking a story and making it more complicated and adding detail to the plot, setting and motivations of the characters; going the other way always works out poorly because you're taking away detail while trying to preserve the essence of the story.
Game-Movies are a lot like Movie-Games (in particular licenced games from the playstation era), they are simply designed to cash in on a popular licence and are usually produced by the worst teams in the industry.
