I'm actually keeping my hopes pretty low for this game ...
If you have ever played a bunch of awful games one thing you will notice is that they can have amazingly talented art teams, and very interesting gameplay ideas yet the games are awful. From what I have seen in my life I have come to the conclusion that quality game development is far more about project management then about talent. I couldn't imagine a rookie team really creating an amazing game unless they were managed by a very large (very good) company.
