| darendt said: Are people on this forum really that uneducated about the CELL processor? The CEll does most of the work on the games that are made correctly. Its the ports that rely heavely on the GPU as the 360 relies heavely on its GPU. The CELL was designed with GFX in mind. That is why they were originaly going to put 2 of them in the PS3. They went with Nvidia to make it a little easier on devs at first, and to cut costs. There was a really good video from the Warhawk devs about how they use the CELL to render everything in real-time, while the RSX is just there to make it pretty. So basicly RSX for textures, CELL for everything else. The vid isnt there anymore though since the game launched. There is however plenty of info about the CELL on the net. |
thats right, theyre using the cell to render raytraced, volumetric clouds in warhawk. GT5 is the second game which makes use of raytracing, and i think many more exclusives will use the cell for improving graphics or optimizing its calculations (e.g. better occlusion culling) in the future.... I've read in a presentation from guerilla games that the cell has the same shader power as RSX, isnt this impressive?
