We are a bit of a funny market. All three consoles are (relatively) *very* expensive. A base 360 can be picked up for around $650AU (packs for about $800) A Wii retails for about $380AU. PS3 launched at $1000AU (don't think the price has dropped much, but you can pick them up on Ebay for about half the price - last I looked anyway). ... We have a 10% GST/VAT tax. The Aussie dollar has also just hit 15(?) year highs - and is sitting at about 0.83c US (last year was about 0.74c). So, when you take the tax off and convert to US dollars: 360 - $491 (core) Wii - $288 (with Wii Sports) PS3 - $755 As you can see, all units are relatively expensive. Consider that you can pick up a PS2 for about $180AU (around the cost of a DS), and *heaps* of games for $20 (EB are now running 3 games for $55 campaign) - and you can see why none of the consoles have really taken off. (A PS2 in US dollars comes to $135) Our population is around the 25m-28m mark - about 10% of the US market?
