The Dragon Quest theme not only predates the 'Fire Emblem' theme (and first Fire Emblem game), but Koichi Sugiyama (music composer for Dragon Quest) actually used two Fire Emblem songs in his production of the 'Orchestrated Musical Concerts' which ran between 1991 through 1995. If anything, since Dragon Quest I and II were the first official orchestrated versions of music ever recorded, the very theme you heard in the trailer predates Fire Emblem and any other orchestrated gaming work. Which the first recorded version of a Fire Emblem song probably was from the third Orchestrated Gaming Concert in 1993, produced and overseen by Koichi Sugiyama.

A lot of people keep bringing up the idea of a remake of Dragon Quest VII. And while I can see the concept (they've remade every other game between I-VI, why not), I just don't see it happening. Eventhough DQVII sold a ton in Japan, it was technically the 'least' popular outside of sales. In Final Fantasy terms its the Final Fantasy II of the series. Even Dragon Quest I, II and VI seem to be more popular, as constant polls and re-releases of the games sell well. But Dragon Quest VII gets lukewarm nods from fans of the series on the same polls and comes pretty much in dead last for 'what's your favorite Dragon Quest'.
Adding to this is just that fact that you can techncially still play it on current hardware. Its not like an NES or SNES game where you can't drop it in a Wii and play it. Games like Dragon Quest VII and VIII will still probably work as long as Sony is still making platforms with SOME connectivity back to those platforms.
In the end, could they make a remake? Sure. But I just don't see it happening when the game has a pretty divided fanbase and they'd probably get more money just making a whole new game or remaking Dragon Quest III again (which they recently did for Cell Phones in Japan).
But one thing they COULD do is port Dragon Quest VIII to Wii. Yeah, it seems like a quick way to make money...but with a few enhancements and perhaps even a little more tweaking of the graphics, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Heck, putting one of the best games of last gen on the Wii again, why not? They did it with Resident Evil 4 and Okami, why not Dragon Quest VIII? I'd buy it again if it had some extras.

I heard it wasn't the most outstanding title in the series but for such an old game it's really not bad. Square Enix should be applauded for continuing to translate the DQ titles despite their complete failure to sell... Obviously I’ll be buying VI when it’s released here. |
Every game i nthe series has its positives. Personally, I love Dragon Quest IV. Its probably my third favorite game in the series. The only downside the series has is its western localizations, and that's probably where people downscore Dragon Quest IV. Which that game got a REALLY bad localization. So bad, that even some content was missing and altered. And just that all that 'accent' and 'pun' junk was pretty bad.
