Squilliam said: As for the keyboard/mice peripheral share all I have is an anecdote as I can't pull up data to support/disprove it. I've been doing a lot of computer shopping recently to build a few computers and every single computer store or computer department I went to had significantly more Logitech keyboards/mice than Microsoft keyboards and there were fewer Microsoft keyboards/mice SKUs than I remember. Can anyone else tell me more about this? |
This is not a big problem to find out, actually. The last numbers from GfK point to roughly 40% Logitech, 20% Microsoft, 20% <some asian company I can't remember> and 20% rest of asian companies. This is for PC peripherals (with low margins). Adding XBox peripherals (100% MS at extremely insane margins) and the higher personnel costs for Logitech to the equation, we can estimate MS profits to very roughly match the profits of Logitech (and these are known numbers).
