I hope that we play as somebody else and the cast of characters are more likable than Hale and his crew in Resistance 1 and 2.
I also hope that if they're serious about backing the frame rates down to a smooth 30fps instead of 60fps that the graphics take a big step forward.
I think that the developers could also put more intense scripted events in the game as well. I found myself enjoying the singleplayer the most when there were large open areas with lots of enemies and lots of allies fighting it out making a lot of noise. Other than those few moments, there's usually that feeling of "something just feels off" for me while I played the games.
