I imagine Wii Sports Resort revealed some simplified and basic mechanics of Zelda Wii.  At least in terms of archery and sword fighting. I'd like to see an actual Zelda game, too, but I'd also like to see the series get back to its action oriented roots and build on that. I wouldn't want to see a 60 hour Link's Crossbow Training, but at the same time I wouldn't want to see another Zelda that's 40-60 hours where a good bulk of that play time is filler where interesting and varied gameplay could be.

If given the all or nothing choice between a 60 hour Link's Crossbow Training or 60 hour Twilight Princess I'd take the crossbow training any day of the week, at least then I'd probably keep playing it out of something besides guilt for having paid $50.

Another Twilight Princess paced game would be a kick in the nuts, too.

You make legitimate complaints based on a particular value set

I don't know if it's fair to judge a game based on what it isn't, but....

Well, if New Super Mario Bros. Wii is any indication (it may not be) we'll see a return to the roots. I expect a much faster intro, at any rate. And there's still goignn to be long stretches of nothing - there always have been, in all of the games - but I expect them to be filled with combat rather than traveling.

Though if there's horseback combat for the traveling, that would be good too.

I'd like to see a return to the roots, find a new branch for Zelda to grow on.  As far as long stretches of nothing, there's always been things to swing at, but yeah there's been times where you're trying to figure out how to move past a certain point.  The pace and feeling of the game was always a feeling of moving onward.

As much as I hate to give the game any credit at all World of Warcraft did a great job of crafting a world where, for the most part, it's really obvious where you're going. I think the worlds in Zelda at times make you wonder "am I doing this right?" or make you wonder if you're on the right path.
