Oh come on. As if this was unexpected. Demon's Souls beat Uncharted 2 for best PS3 game, and in what warped universe (Other than the Spike TV VGAs) does the best PS3 game lose to another PS3 game for overall GOTY? At that point Demon's Souls was the almost automatic winner of overall GOTY. Basically Demon's Souls either directly beat out the other games in the list in specific category GOTYs, or it beat games that beat games in specific category awards (e.g. it beat Uncharted 2 for best PS3 game, and Uncharted 2 beat GTA: CTW for best Action/Adventure game) If you looked at the list and analysed the previous results Demon's Souls was guaranteed the win.

NOW, everyone sign up for Gamespot and make Demon's Souls the readers choice GOTY too!!!

I feel sorry for Uncharted 2 a bit. But I already knew I was going to get Uncharted 2. I was going to wait for an "Others" release of Demon's Souls, but this GOTY has basically convinced me to import the danmed thing and get playing ASAP! Yay for playasia.com!

Ahh, well fair enough then. If you'd known about the earlier awards you wouldn't be so bummed right now. Of course you would have been bummed when you found out about the PS3 GOTY, because at that point you'd know there was no way Uncharted 2 waqs going to get GOTY. I like to think Uncharted 2 came a close second. But I do think Dragon Age: Origins was strongly competing with Uncharted 2 for the number 2 spot. Seems like these guys are RPG fans.

I reckon the things that ultimately let Dragon Age:Origins down was that it is only really the quintessential classical party based RPG on the PC; its console ports draqgged it down ever so slightly. If it had been PC exclusive I think it possibly would have won out over Demon's Souls.
