I hate snow!
Yesterday in Texas it was in the 70's and beautiful, today, we got several inches of snow.
The drive home to my parents was fine, it was snowing, but the roads were fine. When I left, a drive that should take a little over an hour took five freaking hours!
I knew the roads weren't going to be great, but didn't expect them to be as bad as they were. It got to a point where I could see about a foot in front of me because of the insane wind. There usually wasn't a car in front of me so I had to watch the road directly in front of me for the tire tracks and look at my GPS to know when the road curved. It was pretty scary.
It didn't really help things that I lost count of the number of cars in the ditch because people in Texas flip the fuck out when it snows and go bat shit crazy when you get several inches.
We couldn't really even turn around or pull over. We were on the highway which helped things, but it was still in the middle of nowhere so there's no 24-hour places (and if there were, it's Christmas Eve) and no hotels and if I did decide to pull over the idiots that run into the ditches would probably hit me.
I swear, I love Texas but the drivers in snow suck. They're all over the place and just lose all common sense.
The real problem came at one point on the highway in the middle of nowhere we stopped and moved about 10 feet in 2 1/2 hours.
I got to sit there in my itty-bitty car (Mini Clubman) watching the wind and snow slam against my car and watch it blow semi's and cars with huge trailers off the road as they sat there and waited.
The only entertainment came from watching morons go off roading so they could get on the service road. The people in the giant trucks and such made it, but then the idiots in normal cars and minivans got stuck. It was pretty fun watching them spin their tires and making snow go everywhere as they laid on the gas.
Anyways, whatever was stopping us finally got moved (we never saw what it was and there were no traffic reports on it) and the rest of the drive wasn't fun, but it wasn't bad. There were some icey spots, but it wasn't that bad.
