Microsoft Set aside 1.2 billion to cover extended warranties in 2007. Not sure where you get 3 billion from. Their earnings reports have not indicated anywhere near 3 billion of warranty related charges.
My point was simply that microsoft has more financial flexibility than sony. People wrongly assume that because the ps3 has returned the gap to the same level as when the ps3 launched 3 years ago that sony is doing well.
When in fact, the opposite is true. Sony's financial constraints will likely impact future price reductions and thereby impacting the sales gap.
