Just remember that in 2010 Microsoft will most likely cut the 360's price. If they have to lose millions to stay in second place, they'll do just that.

I completely agree with this post ^

Except microsoft has profited for 2 straight years on xbox....they can easily afford the losses if necessary.

Sony has already shown their willingness to lose 5 billion dollars on the ps3 just to remain competitive....even if they are still n last place.

Yeh, but Microsoft lost like 3 billion because of Rrod and the other faults.

Both have been losing tons but obviously Microsoft won't be worried, they have bucketloads full of money.

Microsoft Set aside 1.2 billion to cover extended warranties in 2007.  Not sure where you get 3 billion from.  Their earnings reports have not indicated anywhere near 3 billion of warranty related charges.

My point was simply that microsoft has more financial flexibility than sony.  People wrongly assume that because the ps3 has returned the gap to the same level as when the ps3 launched 3 years ago that sony is doing well.

When in fact,  the opposite is true.  Sony's financial constraints will likely impact future price reductions and thereby impacting the sales gap.
