There are a couple of users in here that need to get with the Program, JRPG's are evolving past there SNES/PS1 roots a Big complaint with the JRPG genre is that it doesn't evolve thus creating stale been there done that scenarios, RoF, FFXIII and VC are the beginning of the evolution of the JRPG genre and plus im sure on handhelds the traditional JRPG will thrive but on Consoles they got to evolve ... so you roll with it or get rolled over

You can evolve in a lot of ways, you can be modern and still have traditionals things. Dragon quest 8 on "PS2" is a good example of this. Also evolving doesnt mean to remove everything that has made the genre succesful.

Icyedge...DQ is a Megaton Franchise... they can do anything they want with it and it will sell bombtastic numbers.... gimme a non FF/ DQ JRPG( they sell on name brand) that can get away with a traditional style set up...hell Lost Odessy and Blue Dragon created by the great Sakaguchi were both criticized for being too traditional, On Consoles JRPG's are gonna have to keep up to survive

Blue dragon and lost odyssey were not really good for a lot more reasons than being traditional.  Also theres a difference in wanting to keep up, which they can do easily selling to the hardcore JRPG audience, and trying to do more cash by opening up the genre to a wider audience. We will still have both types of RPGs in the future, that is sure. Ill play them all anyway since im a huge RPGs fan. It will even be first day purchase like all RPGs on all console for the past 15 years but with less pleasure.

Im basing my previous comments on the demo, which can be unrepresentative of the full game. I doesnt know what is the story and pacing, which will play half the part of the whole experience. So maybe, in the end, I will like this game very much but im a bit careful after playing this demo.
