Detroit does not come to your mind even when you think of Motown or the other numerous musical artists that originated from Detroit?

Is Motown really from Detroit? When I think of Motown I think of the artists, I don't think about the city they came from. Just like when I think of "grunge" I think about Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, etc., I don't think about "Seattle".
