you can't be serious. The first one was a joke and the second one marketing for their zune. Everybody knew the zune was created to compete with the iPod. That was just PR.

 

Obviously, how can anybody remain serious when Ballmer's involved?    He's an outstanding dancer and comedian, but he's not versed in marketing...

Anyhow, the iPod Amnesty Bin was considered amusing, but not in the sense MS desired, and very pathetic as marketing effort (and Zune's appalling results, initial bugs and quirks and ugliness, despite the money and resources spent on it, didn't help)
