That might be a bit controversial, but the only thing I hate about pirates is that they haven't yet successfully hacked the PS3 for general gaming use. I know a lot of my friends only have a wii and a 360 simply because they cannot buy pirated games on the PS3. An original new PS3 game is the equivalent of about 1/2 the monthly salary($100 for uncharted 2) of some people here while the pirated discs are about 1/30th of their monthly salary.
Western people might disagree but I suppose that when your hourly wage is about 10 times more than the average hourly wage of people in poor countries, it also entitles you to having your own opinion... :)
