But on topic, yeah, Detroit has been pretty messed up. The Silverdome being sold for an amount that a trio of regular middle-class homeowners could have paid for with some pretty simple loans (only around $500k for a building that cost $50 million to put together)
When the rest of the country's housing market comes back, though, people might start looking at Detroit again. $100 for a home, even if it needs thousands of dollars in renovation, is still a steal. The laws of economics should balance it out, but you need significant demand to accrue in other parts of the country to do it, which could take a while. |
To be fair, the silverdome does take 1-2 million a year to upkeep.
Still, i'd just demolish it and hold on to the land. Detroit can't be ignored forever.
