I agree, I have a feeling this was already in the works before the letter and editorial. For a large corporation like Sony to read a letter a week before, have a meeting about the letter, decide which avatars to roll out first, cecide on a price for the avatars, create the avatars and then get them ready for a PSN release all in 7 days would be a corporate miracle. Not to mention the content of PSN updates are most likely scheduled in advance.
I think the main reason people are mad is because the first avatars Sony has realeased in who knows how long aren't free. If they released some free ones as well as premium ones, no one would feel the need to complain.
